Who we are
Wembuno (“we”, “us”) is operated by Sebastian Perez, Montevideo, Uruguay, telephone +598 92 416 142. You can contact us at info@wembuno.com.
Who Wembuno is for
Wembuno is an educational game directed to children aged 6 to 12, and to the parents and teachers who support them. We designed it so that it does not need personal information from anyone.
Information we do not collect
We do not request or collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, photos, voice recordings, precise location, contact lists, school details or any other information that identifies a child or an adult. Wembuno has no registration, no chat, no user profiles and no way for children to share information publicly.
Information stored on your device
To make the game work, Wembuno saves information in your browser. This data stays on your device; it is not sent to us or to anyone else.
| What is stored | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
wembuno.save.v1 (local storage): game progress — results for each multiplication fact, level, coins, stars, achievements, items, settings and a daily activity summary for the last 120 days | To save progress, adapt questions to the facts your child finds hardest, and show the progress report | Until you reset progress or clear this site’s data |
wembuno.lang (local storage): preferred language | To open Wembuno in the language you chose | Until you clear this site’s data |
| Offline cache (service worker): copies of Wembuno’s own pages, styles and scripts | To load quickly and keep working with a poor connection | Replaced automatically when Wembuno updates |
This storage is strictly necessary to provide the game you chose to use, and it contains no name or contact details. The adaptive practice happens entirely on the device and is used only to choose the next question.
Android app
The Wembuno app for Android includes the whole game and works without an internet connection. It does not connect to our servers or to anyone else’s, contains no advertising or analytics tools, and asks for no special permissions such as camera, microphone, location or contacts. Progress is stored only inside the app on your device, and it is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data in Android settings. Links that leave the app, such as our email address, are protected by a grown-up check. Google Play, which distributes the app, handles download data under its own privacy policy.
Voluntary contributions
The pages written for grown-ups include a link for making a voluntary contribution through PayPal. The link only opens PayPal’s own site: Wembuno loads no PayPal script and sets no cookie for it. If you choose to contribute, PayPal handles the payment under its own privacy policy, and Wembuno never sees your card details. PayPal tells us the name, the email address and the amount of each contribution; we use that only for our accounts and to reply if needed, and we keep it for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Where the GDPR applies, the legal bases are compliance with a legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)) and our legitimate interest in managing contributions (Article 6(1)(f)). Contributing is voluntary, it unlocks no extra features, and the Android app does not include this link.
Hosting and server logs
Like any website, the servers that deliver Wembuno receive the technical information needed to send pages to your browser: the IP address, browser type, date and time, and the page requested. Wembuno is hosted by Hostinger (Hostinger International Ltd and its affiliates in the European Union), which processes this information on our behalf under a data processing agreement.
These logs are used only for internal operations: delivering pages, keeping the service secure and stable, and investigating technical faults or abuse. They are never combined with other information, used to build profiles, shown to advertisers or used to identify or contact anyone; only the hosting provider’s systems and, when strictly necessary to fix a technical fault, the operator can access them. They are kept only as long as needed for these purposes and are then deleted automatically according to the hosting provider’s retention schedule. Where the GDPR applies, the legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (Article 6(1)(f)).
If you write to us
The only exception is when you choose to write to us. If you send us an email, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use them only to answer you and delete the conversation once your request has been dealt with, at the latest within 12 months. If we realise that a child under 13 has written to us, we reply once if appropriate and then delete the child’s email address and message straight away. The legal basis is your request (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) or our legitimate interest in answering it (Article 6(1)(f)).
Cookies
Wembuno does not use cookies. Read our cookie policy.
Advertising
Wembuno does not currently show advertising. If we decide to show ads in the future, they will never appear inside the game, and we will update this policy before any ad is shown.
Children’s privacy
We collect as little as possible — in practice, no personal information at all. The only technical identifiers involved are the IP addresses in the hosting provider’s server logs, used solely to support internal operations as described above.
In the United States, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) requires verifiable parental consent before personal information is collected from children under 13. Wembuno does not collect personal information from children.
In the European Union and the United Kingdom, we follow the GDPR and UK GDPR and apply the standards of the UK Age Appropriate Design Code: high privacy by default, no profiling for marketing, no nudge techniques, no geolocation and no data sharing.
Your rights and choices
- See the data: the Parents page shows what is stored about play on this device.
- Export it: Settings → Grown-up zone → Save progress to a file.
- Delete it: Settings → Grown-up zone → Reset all progress, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings.
Where the GDPR, the UK GDPR or similar laws apply, you have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. In Mexico and Uruguay these are known as ARCO rights (access, rectification, cancellation and opposition). Parents and guardians can exercise these rights on behalf of their children. To exercise them, write to info@wembuno.com; we answer within one month.
Because we hold no personal data on our servers, we will usually not find any information about you, but you are always welcome to contact us. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, such as the Unidad Reguladora y de Control de Datos Personales (URCDP) in Uruguay, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in the UK or the supervisory authority where you live in the EU.
Security
Wembuno is designed to be served over HTTPS with a strict content security policy, and it loads no third-party scripts.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Wembuno handles information, we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect.
